Singapore Commits $1.1 Billion More to Local Stocks Through Five Global Managers

September 29, 2026, Singapore

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) will place S$1.45 billion ($1.1 billion) with five asset managers to deepen investment in Singapore-listed equities, Deputy Chairman Chee Hong Tat said at the SuperReturn Asia conference, Reuters reported.

The central bank named Amundi, Franklin Templeton, HSBC Asset Management, M&G Investments and Natixis Investment Managers as the recipients.

The commitment is the third batch under Singapore's S$6.5 billion Equity Market Development Programme, bringing total allocations to S$5.4 billion, according to Reuters. Mr. Chee said a fourth batch was under review and expected in 2027. He also announced a S$20 million grant aimed at small- and mid-cap stocks and new listings.

The move builds on Singapore's broader push to revive its equities market, including a 20% tax rebate for primary listings, the SGX–Nasdaq dual-listing initiative, and tax and visa incentives for the fund sector introduced in August.

Anchor capital from MAS, alongside global managers with regional track records, adds a sustained source of demand for Singapore equities, with the new support directed specifically at small- and mid-cap stocks and new listings — a segment where liquidity has historically been thinnest. For companies weighing a listing on the SGX or its Catalist board, the backdrop is steadily improving.
